As most of you are aware, the Pilot Shared Draw Zone (SDZ) was approved in September 2017 for the Midget division between the associations for the 2017/2018 season. While running a shared team between the two associations at the Midget division level was not a new thing, this past season was the first time it was formalized under a proper SDZ under BC Hockey/PCAHA Guidelines. We have learned from the experience and will have more information regarding the options for next season at the AGMs for each association to determine the course of action for the upcoming 2018/2019 season with possibly extending the Pilot Project to the Bantam and Peewee levels. This information will include what ice schedules could possibly look like, etc., rep fees, etc.

In an effort to get prepared for next season, Whistler and Squamish Minor Hockey Associations have decided to run evaluation ice sessions for Peewee, Bantam and Midget divisions.

By running these evaluations in the Spring it will allow each association to understand the level of interest in each division in order to determine the number of teams required and ultimately get us prepared with proper coaching at each level if this is the direction the members wish to pursue.

If you/your player is interested in playing A (rep) level for the 2018/2019 we invite you/your player to come out and skate with other players and Coach Mike Borrelli at the following ice times at Meadow Park in Whistler, B.C.
April 23 – 8:15 – 9:45pm – Midget
April 24 – 8:15 – 9:45pm – Peewee
April 26 – 7:00 – 8:30pm – Bantam

While players will not be selected directly from these ice sessions, this will give each player an idea of their strength and areas for improvement to work on over the summer months. Further evaluations/try-outs will be conducted in late summer.

If you are interested in playing A (rep) level but are unable to attend your allotted session please email Rob Palm at robpalm@me.com with your player’s name and division.

The cost for the session will be $20/player and will be collected prior to you/your player stepping on the ice.

**In order to participate in this session, you must be in good standing with your association.
